A wedge wire screen consists of:

The profile wire is normally triangular or V-shaped. The screen is manufactured by resistance welding the profile wires to support rods, producing a strong and rigid screening structure.

The V-shaped slot allows particles to be retained while allowing the fluid to pass through with relatively low resistance.
